Here we go, is that time again. Summer is almost at the end, and to get rid of that melancholy feeling I have experimented this beautiful DIY.
I think these pillows are just perfect for the fall season coming.
The Shibori technique is an old Japanese way to dye cotton fabrics, i find it so beautiful and really inspiring. I made this simple design but you can create different styles just playing with the strings and the foldings.
I am dying some more pillow cases, and i will update this post once they are all done!
Here you go what you need for this tutorial:
-Cotton pillowcase (chose the size you prefer, just make sure it is 100%cotton)
-Dying for textiles
-Strings or rubber bands
-A couple of buckets
1 prepare you die according to the instructions
2 once you have your fabrics folded and bounded make them wet with water and wring it well. Note: a wet and dry part will create two different kind of shades.
( i divided my pillowcase in half and made wet just one part)
3 put the textiles into the bucket and let the dye gets anywhere you like
4 leave it in the dye for at least 15 mins but if you want a darker effect you should leave it longer
Tip: if you want an ombre effect let one end of the fabric out of the bucket and gradually soak it in
5 rinse the textiles well with water until the excess dye goes and let it dry.
6 Let it dry without takins the string off.
